Why we do what we do.
Historical socio-economic inequity and the effects of climate change have and continues to put the very future of humanity at considerable risk. Unless every person, every organization and every government takes urgent action to correct these conditions, we will continue on this destructive trajectory.
It is because of this that all Member States of the United Nations, in 2015, signed a blueprint of peace and prosperity for humanity and our planet, now and into the future. At the heart of this blueprint are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which calls for action by all countries in a united global effort to eliminate poverty and other chronic deprivations while simultaneously preserving and improving global ecological existence.
The adoption and implementation of policies and strategies by governments and organizations to achieve these 17 goals comprises the concept of sustainability. Environment, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks are the measurable quantitative and qualitative standards and criteria used to determine the level of impact a government or organization has on its community and the degree of sustainability achieved. ESG is a dynamic process that continually guides organizations and governments to achieve their individual sustainability goals and, by extension, the global 17 SDGs.
